>> Studio Context
Updating the New England Greenway Vision Plan. The plan builds upon existing and proposed greenways in all six states and identifies the critical linkages that will make a New England Greenway system.

>> Project 's Goals for the Sate of Massachusetts
[1] Improve opportunities for recreation while protecting key cultural and ecological resources; [2] create linkages from east to west while reinforcing the existing connections along the Connecticut River; [3] improve access in urban areas to outlying cultural, natural and recreational resources.

>> Project's Methodology
[1] Assessment using GIS Mapping of current historical, natural and recreational resources; [2] analysis of potential single purpose greenways (historical, natural, recreational); [3] final overlay of proposed single greenways to determine where the three components (historical, natural and recreational) overlap.

>> Project's Results
[1] Confirming the Connecticut River corridor as an important core and supporting habitat with a high concentration of cultural and scenic resources and recreational opportunities creating a worthy north to south connection; [2] Creation of a corridor along the Deerfield River to provide an important east-west connection; [3] the final proposed greenway double the acreage of land to be managed and protected, create 67.5 miles of new trails and 90 miles of byways.
